Mayumana, the Israeli theatre company, brings their work Be, created by
Eylon Nuphar and Boaz Berman, to New York and as part of the new kind of
vaudeville that includes Stomp, Drumstruck, Blue Man Group, Tap Dogs, etc., it's
one of the more exciting ventures. With a youthful and sexy cast the performance
brings an exotic flavor to rhythmical poundings, vibrantly physical
choreography, and eerie, optical illusions. There is some flamenco, belly
dancing, gymnastics, charmingly, silly antics and especially body-throbbing
music. It is all wizardly lighted by Eyal Tavori and Roy Milo. What any of it
means other than what its title suggests, doesn't really matter.
