paternity

A woman wants to have a baby and she wants to do it alone (or, at least, in partnership with the local soccer team). A man challenges her decision to purposefully be a single mother – although it's worth pointing out – he is madly in love with her. So, where else to turn for advice but to those nearest – which has unexpected consequences. Winter Miller’s controlled chaos and sexy theatricality deconstructs the concept of marriage and begs the question…what makes a relationship work? Written by Winter Miller and directed by Craig Lucas.

Paternity is being produced under the auspices of Cherry Lane Theatre’s Obie Award winning Mentor Project Series. Mentor Project, the cornerstone of Cherry Lane Theatre's development programs, engages pre-eminent dramatists in one-to-one mentoring relationships with aspiring playwrights for an entire theatre season. This season’s mentors included David Henry Hwang, Craig Lucas and Charles Fuller.
